In case of loss or destruction of patent, from any cause, the party so losing may apply to the secretary of state for a certified copy thereof, which when issued under his or her hand and official seal shall be deemed and held to be of the same tenure and effect as the original patent. For such certified copy of patent the secretary of state shall fix and charge a fee in an amount approved by the director of accounts and reports under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 45-204.
