There is hereby established, within and as a part of the department of revenue, a division of property valuation, the head of which shall be the director of property valuation. Under the supervision of the secretary of revenue, the director of property valuation shall administer the division of property valuation. The secretary of revenue shall appoint the director of property valuation, subject to confirmation by the senate as provided in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-4315b, and amendments thereto. Except as provided by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 46-2601, and amendments thereto, no person appointed as director shall exercise any power, duty or function as director until confirmed by the senate. The director shall serve at the pleasure of the secretary of revenue. The director of property valuation shall be in the unclassified service and shall receive an annual salary fixed by the secretary of revenue and approved by the governor.
