Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 75-5310a
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
- Secretary: means the secretary for children and families or the designee of the secretary. See Kansas Statutes 75-5399
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
The secretary for children and families is hereby authorized to contract for the services of persons to assist in the preparation of expert testimony for litigation and to act as expert witnesses in litigation. Any such contracts shall be exempt from the competitive bid requirements of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-3739, and amendments thereto.
