- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.

Payment of any judgments, compromises or settlements for which a municipality is liable pursuant to Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-6101 et seq., and amendments thereto, may be made from any funds or moneys of the municipality which lawfully may be utilized for such purpose or if the municipality is authorized by law to levy taxes upon property such payment may be made from moneys received from the issuance of no-fund warrants, temporary notes or general obligation bonds. Warrants or temporary notes issued under the authority of this section may mature serially at such yearly dates as to be payable by not more than 10 tax levies. Bonds issued under the authority of this section shall be issued in accordance with the provisions of the general bond law and shall be in addition to and not subject to any bonded debt limitation prescribed by any other law of this state.
