Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 79-2913
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.

In all cases in which any county has heretofore or shall hereafter pay into the state treasury a greater amount of money than is or may be due from such county for the year in which such surplus money was paid, it shall be the duty of the director of accounts and reports and treasurer of state, at the close of each fiscal year, to credit such overpaid or surplus amount to the county paying the same as a credit upon the taxes due or thereafter to become due from such county to the state.
