Kentucky Statutes 164.980 – Impersonation of police officer prohibited

No person shall falsely represent himself to be a police officer, agent or employee of a police department of a public institution of postsecondary education and in such assumed character, arrest, or detain, or search, or question, in any manner the person or property of any person, nor shall any person without the authority of the governing board of the public institution of postsecondary education wear its official uniform, insignia, badge, or identification of the department.

- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- governing board: means the board of trustees for the University of Kentucky or the University of Louisville, the board of regents for a comprehensive university, or the board of regents for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. See Kentucky Statutes 164.001
- Institution: means a university, college, community college, health technology center, vocational-technical school, technical institute, technical college, technology center, or the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. See Kentucky Statutes 164.001
