The following persons shall be exempt from the requirements of registration under this chapter:
(1) (a) Officers and employees of the United States government while engaged in providing geological services for their employment; and

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 322A.080

  • Geology: means the science which treats the earth as a whole. See Kentucky Statutes 322A.010
  • Public practice of geology: means the performance of service to the public in connection with the geological description, location, or evaluation of earth materials, liquids, and gases and the natural processes acting upon them. See Kentucky Statutes 322A.010
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States, includes territories, outlying possessions, and the District of Columbia. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010

(b) Until July 31, 2015, officers and employees of state or local governments while engaged in providing geological services for their employment;
(2) Persons engaged solely in geologic research or the instruction of geology;
(3) Professional engineers registered in this Commonwealth under KRS Chapter 322 who apply geology to the practice of engineering; or
(4) Persons not engaged in the public practice of geology.
