Kentucky Statutes 35.817 – Payment of fines and disposition thereof

(1) Fines imposed by a military court or through imposition of non-judicial punishment may be paid to the state and delivered to the court or imposing officer, or to a person executing their process. Fines may be collected by:
(a) Cash or money order;
(b) Retention of any pay or allowances due or to become due the person from any state or the United States; or
(c) Garnishment or levy, together with costs, on wages, goods, and chattels of a person delinquent in paying a fine, as provided by law.
(2) Any sum so received or retained shall be deposited in the military justice fund or to whomever the court so directs.

- Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
- Military: refers to any or all of the Armed Forces. See Kentucky Statutes 35.010
- Military court: means a court-martial or a court of inquiry. See Kentucky Statutes 35.010
- Officer: means a commissioned or warrant officer. See Kentucky Statutes 35.010
- State: when applied to a part of the United States, includes territories, outlying possessions, and the District of Columbia. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
(b) Retention of any pay or allowances due or to become due the person from any state or the United States; or
(c) Garnishment or levy, together with costs, on wages, goods, and chattels of a person delinquent in paying a fine, as provided by law.
