The department shall:
(1) Administer a validated risk and needs assessment to assess the criminal risk factors of all inmates who are eligible for parole, or a reassessment of a previously administered risk and needs assessment, before the case is considered by the board;
(2) Provide the results of the most recent risk and needs assessment to the board before an inmate appears before the board; and
(3) Incorporate information from an inmate’s criminal risk and needs assessment into the development of his or her case plan.

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 439.331
- Case plan: means an individualized accountability and behavior change strategy for supervised individuals that:
(a) Targets and prioritizes the specific criminal risk factors of the individual based upon his or her assessment results. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010 - validated risk and needs assessment: means an actuarial tool scientifically proven to determine a person's risk to reoffend and criminal risk factors, that when properly addressed, can reduce that person's likelihood of committing future criminal behavior. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
(2) Provide the results of the most recent risk and needs assessment to the board before an inmate appears before the board; and
(3) Incorporate information from an inmate’s criminal risk and needs assessment into the development of his or her case plan.
