Special law enforcement officers duly commissioned under KRS § 61.900 to KRS § 61.930 shall be deemed “peace officers” within the meaning of KRS § 527.020 and shall be authorized to carry a concealed deadly weapon on or about their persons when necessary for their protection in the discharge of their official duties.
