For volunteer fire departments merging prior to July 14, 2022, if a new volunteer fire department is created from territory in an existing fire department merged under the provisions of KRS § 95A.500 to KRS § 95A.560, the newly created volunteer fire district shall be able to receive one (1) share at the next regular disbursal date, if qualified. The parent fire department shall have aid allotted under KRS § 95A.262(2) reduced by one (1) qualified share for calculations of aid, for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth years after merger.
