Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes > Chapter 107 - Municipal Improvements -- Alternate Methods

  • Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments.
  • Classified zone: means any portion of any construction phase of a wastewater collection project designated by a metropolitan sewer district after a determination that all property located in such zone is benefited substantially equal by such construction. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • Debt service reserve requirement: means with respect to any particular issue of bonds for a wastewater collection project of a metropolitan sewer district, the maximum annual requirements for payment of principal of and interest on such bond issue funded either in whole or in part by application of bond proceeds or accrued by the levying of improvement benefit assessments as provided in KRS Chapters 76 and 107.   • Escrow: Money given to a third party to be held for payment until certain conditions are met.
  • front-foot basis: refers to the plan for financing improvements by apportioning the cost among benefited properties upon the basis of the number of linear feet thereof abutting upon the improvement project, as otherwise provided by law. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
  • Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
  • Metropolitan sewer district: means a joint metropolitan sewer district which has been duly created under KRS §. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • Order: means a formal and binding enactment of the board of a metropolitan sewer district entered in connection with the financing by such district of a wastewater collection project. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • ordinance: means and includes any ordinance enacted in accordance with the general laws applicable to ordinances of the class of city in question, and the form of government thereof, and in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
  • Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
  • public way: means and includes streets, boulevards, avenues, roads, lanes, alleys, parkways, courts, terraces, and other courses of travel open to the general public by whatsoever name designated. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Regular election: means the election in even-numbered years at which members of Congress are elected and the election in odd-numbered years at which state officers are elected. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • Trust account: A general term that covers all types of accounts in a trust department, such as estates, guardianships, and agencies. Source: OCC
  • Wastewater: means any water or liquid substance containing sewage, industrial waste, or other pollutants or contaminants. See Kentucky Statutes 107.020
