(1) Concurrent with submitting an application for a waiver or waiver amendment or a request for a plan amendment to any federal agency that approves waivers, waiver amendments, and plan amendments, the cabinet shall provide to the Interim Joint Committee on Health Services, and to the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue a copy, summary, and statement of benefits of the application for a waiver or waiver amendment or request for a plan amendment.
(2) The cabinet shall provide an update on the status of the application for a waiver or waiver amendment or request for a plan amendment to the Legislative Research Commission upon request.
(3) If the cabinet is expressly directed by the General Assembly to submit an application for a waiver or waiver amendment or a request for a plan amendment to any federal agency that approves waivers, waiver amendments, or plan amendments for public assistance programs administered under this chapter and that application or request is denied by the federal agency, the cabinet shall notify the Legislative Research Commission of the reasons for the denial. If instructed by the General Assembly through legislative action during the next legislative session, the cabinet shall resubmit, with or without modifications based on instructions from the General Assembly, the application for a waiver or waiver amendment or request for a plan amendment.

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 205.525
- Action: includes all proceedings in any court of this state. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Cabinet: means the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. See Kentucky Statutes 205.010
- Federal: refers to the United States. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
- Joint committee: Committees including membership from both houses of teh legislature. Joint committees are usually established with narrow jurisdictions and normally lack authority to report legislation.
- Legislative session: That part of a chamber's daily session in which it considers legislative business (bills, resolutions, and actions related thereto).
- Public assistance: means money grants, assistance in kind, or services to or for the benefit of needy aged, needy blind, needy permanently and totally disabled persons, needy children, or persons with whom a needy child lives or a family containing a combination of these categories, except that the term shall not be construed to permit the granting of financial aid where the purpose of such aid is to obtain an abortion. (3) If the cabinet is expressly directed by the General Assembly to submit an application for a waiver or waiver amendment or a request for a plan amendment to any federal agency that approves waivers, waiver amendments, or plan amendments for public assistance programs administered under this chapter and that application or request is denied by the federal agency, the cabinet shall notify the Legislative Research Commission of the reasons for the denial.
