Notwithstanding any provision of law, a health plan issued or renewed on or after July 15,
2000, that provides coverage for surgical first assisting or intraoperative surgical care benefits or services shall be construed as providing coverage for a certified surgical assistant who performs services as identified in KRS § 216B.015(16).
