When an execution is issued jointly against a personal representative, an heir and a devisee, or any two of them, the officer in whose hands it is placed for collection shall sell, first, the estate in the hands of the personal representative; second, the estate descended to the heir; and third, the estate devised. The defendants may, in writing, direct the sale to take place in any order they desire.
