(1) Any city may acquire, maintain and operate an artificial gas system, together with extensions and necessary appurtenances thereto within or without the limits of the city.
(2) If any such artificial gas system is acquired from a company having a franchise, such system may be acquired under the provisions of the Eminent Domain Act of Kentucky, except as otherwise provided in KRS § 96.543 to KRS § 96.546 and 96.600.
