Terms Used In Louisiana Children's Code 1407
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Children's Code 1404
- Treatment: means an active effort to accomplish an improvement in the mental condition or behavior of a patient or to prevent deterioration in his condition or behavior. See Louisiana Children's Code 1404
A. Minor patients involuntarily hospitalized by emergency certificate for mental health treatment shall not be admitted to the following facilities:
(1) Private clinics.
(2) Public or private halfway houses.
(3) Public or private group homes.
(4) Substance abuse clinics.
(5) Forensic facilities.
(6) Residential facilities for children.
B. Minor patients in the custody of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections may be admitted to forensic facilities by emergency certificate provided that judicial commitment proceedings are initiated during the period of treatment at the forensic facility authorized by emergency certificate.
