Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:559 – Transfer of creditable service; purchase of credit for service
Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:559
- Creditable service: means prior service plus membership service for which credit is allowable as provided in this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:403
- Member: means any person included in the membership of the system. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:403
- Retirement: means termination of active service, with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:403
- State: means the state of Louisiana. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:403
- System: means the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:403
Any judge or court officer enumerated in La. Rev. Stat. 11:553 who is a member of the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System shall have the option of any or all of the following:
(1) Transferring to the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System all of his credit from any public retirement or pension system, fund, or plan maintained primarily for officers and employees of the state of Louisiana or any political subdivision thereof, provided that he is not receiving a regular or disability benefit from the transferring retirement or pension system, fund, or plan. All transfers of creditable service authorized by this Section shall be made in accordance with the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 11:143.
(2) Purchasing credit for service as a special investigator or prosecutor of any Louisiana court, provided such purchase does not cause a duplication of credit for such service. Any purchase made pursuant to this Section shall be made in accordance with the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 11:158.
(3) Upgrading credit for services other than judicial service to credit for judicial service by purchase made in accordance with the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 11:158.
