Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:813
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Earnable compensation: means the compensation earned by a member during the full normal working time as a teacher. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Member: means any teacher included in the membership of the system as provided in Part II of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Service: means service as a teacher within the meaning of Paragraph (33) of this Section. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
For each member of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana who is paid from school food service funds and who is not covered by the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 11:801 through 811, the legislature shall annually appropriate an amount equal to three and forty-five one-hundredths percent of each and every such member’s earnable compensation, such annual appropriation to be paid to the system through the state treasurer’s office in twelve equal installments beginning on July first and ending on June first of each fiscal year. Should the amount appropriated be less than the amount required, the legislature shall appropriate the difference to the system. Should the amount appropriated be more than the amount required, the system shall return the excess to the office of the state treasurer.
