Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:3704

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Postsecondary education institution: means a Louisiana public postsecondary education institution or nonpublic postsecondary institution that receives or disburses any form of state student financial assistance, including scholarships and grants. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:3702

            A. No public postsecondary education institution shall enter into any partnerships that promote, market, or advertise sports wagering activity with any entity licensed by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, the Louisiana State Racing Commission, or the office of charitable gaming, other than alumni networks with content solely focused on responsible gaming initiatives or problem gambling awareness.

            B. The provisions of this Section shall not be construed to cause impairment of any existing obligation, contract, or partnership in effect prior to June 6, 2023.
