Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1673

  • Adjuster: means an individual who investigates or adjusts losses on behalf of an insurer as an independent contractor or as an employee of:

                (a) An adjustment bureau;

                (b) An association;

                (c) A property and casualty producer;

                (d) An independent contractor;

                (e) An insurer; or

                (f) A managing general agent. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1661

  • Individual: means a natural person. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:1661

            A. An individual who holds an adjuster license and who is not exempt under Subsection B of this Section shall satisfactorily complete a minimum of twenty-four hours of continuing education courses, including ethics, reported on a biennial basis in conjunction with the license renewal cycle.

            B. This Section shall not apply to either of the following:

            (1) An individual renewing an adjuster license for the first time after initial issuance.

            (2) Licensees holding nonresident adjuster licenses who have met the continuing education requirements of their home states and whose home states give credit to residents of this state on the same basis.

            C. Only continuing education courses approved by the commissioner shall satisfy the continuing education requirement of Subsection A of this Section.
