Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 25:1203

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

As used in the Chapter, the following terms shall have the following meaning, unless the context requires otherwise:

(1)  “Association” means the West Baton Rouge Historical Association.  

(2)  “Board” means the West Baton Rouge Museum Board.  

(3)  “Director” means the museum director.  

(4)  “Governing authority” means the West Baton Rouge Parish Police Jury.  

(5)  “Museum” means any public museum and related facilities under the jurisdiction of the board.  

(6)  “Parish” means West Baton Rouge Parish.
