Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:423.30

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

Notwithstanding the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 33:423 or any other provision of law to the contrary, in and for the city of Vinton, the chief of police may promote and discipline police personnel subject to the budgetary limitations of the mayor and the city council pertaining to the number of allotted positions of the police department. This Section shall not, however, prohibit a police department employee from making a direct appeal to the city council, who shall have the authority to modify or reverse any actions of the chief of police.
