Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:447.6

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, if the local governing authority by ordinance authorizes an increase in court costs for the mayor’s court of the town of Lutcher, the mayor of the town of Lutcher, as the presiding officer of the mayor’s court of the town of Lutcher, may impose court costs not to exceed twenty-three dollars for each offense, as defined by ordinance, on any defendant convicted of a violation of a municipal ordinance.  The court costs authorized by this Section shall be in addition to the court costs authorized by La. Rev. Stat. 33:441.
