Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:453

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

A.  There is hereby created the Mayor’s Court of the City of Central, the territorial jurisdiction of which shall extend throughout the city of Central in East Baton Rouge Parish.

B.  The general provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 33:441 and 442 shall be applicable to and shall govern and regulate the Mayor’s Court of the City of Central, the jurisdiction of the court, and the power and authority of the mayor and other officers of the court.
