- Respiratory therapy: means the allied health specialty practiced under the direction and supervision of a physician involving the assessment, treatment, testing, monitoring, and care of persons with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The legislature hereby declares that in order to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the people of this state against the unauthorized, unqualified, and improper practice of respiratory therapy it is necessary to provide for the regulation of persons offering respiratory services to the public.
