- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Member: shall include any employee, as defined in Paragraph (10) of this Section, included in the membership of this system as provided in Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:2252
A. A member may appeal a decision made pursuant to La. Rev. Stat. 11:218(D)(2) or (3), regarding eligibility for disability benefits, by filing a petition in the appropriate district court within thirty days after receipt of written notice of the decision.
B. An appeal of a decision regarding eligibility for disability benefits pursuant to La. Rev. Stat. 11:2258(A)(2) may be instituted by the member or his beneficiary by filing a petition in the appropriate district court within thirty days after receipt of written notice of the decision.
