Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:1860

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

An abduction prevention order remains in effect until the earliest of:

(1)  The time stated in the order.

(2)  The emancipation of the child.

(3)  The child’s attaining eighteen years of age.

(4)  The time the order is modified, revoked, vacated, or superseded by a court with jurisdiction under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 13:1813 through 1815 and other applicable law of this state.
