- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
NOTE: AS AMENDED BY ACTS 1987, NO. 296, §1:
A. All employees, as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 17:1205, except those employees who receive annual leave, shall be entitled to and shall be allowed up to two days absence during each school year to be taken from current or accumulated sick leave and to be used for such purposes as may be determined by the individual employee without loss of pay. The employee requesting such leave shall give his supervisor at least twenty-four hours notice prior to taking the leave without loss of pay.
B. Personal leave shall be charged to and deducted from current or unused sick leave as of the date personal leave is taken. Personal leave shall not be accumulated from year to year, nor shall personal leave be compensated for upon death or retirement or paid in any other manner except as provided for in this Section.
C. The provisions of this Section shall have no effect on any school system which has in effect on and after September 15, 1982, a policy relative to personal leave for school employees.

A. All such employees, as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 17:1205, upon accumulating unused sick leave under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 17:1206, except those employees who receive annual leave, shall be entitled to and shall be allowed up to two days absence during each school year for such purposes as may be determined by the individual employee without loss of pay. Each parish and city school board shall adopt a uniform policy on personal leave which would apply to all such employees of the district under its jurisdiction.
B. Personal leave shall be charged to and deducted from the employee’s sick leave for the current year or sick leave accumulated as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 17:1206. Personal leave shall not be accumulated from year to year, nor shall personal leave be compensated for upon death or retirement or paid in any other manner except as provided for in this Section.
C. The provisions of this Section shall have no effect on any school system which has in effect on and after September 15, 1982, a policy relative to personal leave for school employees.
