- teacher: shall include any member of the teaching staff of a public school in the state and any social worker or school psychologist employed by a local school board in the state who holds a valid professional ancillary certificate in school social work or school psychology issued by the state Department of Education. A substitute teacher appointed under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 17:1212 shall not acquire any of the tenure rights or privileges provided for in La. Rev. Stat. 17:441 through La. Rev. Stat. 17:444 or in La. Rev. Stat. 17:461 through La. Rev. Stat. 17:463, unless the substitute teacher has subsequently been appointed to fill a regular vacancy and has the necessary qualifications.
