  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

            A. The Mansfield Female College Museum is established as a facility in the town of Mansfield, parish of DeSoto, under the overall jurisdiction of the Department of State as more specifically provided in this Chapter and in La. Rev. Stat. 36:744(F).

            B. The Mansfield Female College Museum shall be a historical, cultural, scientific, and technological educational institution whose primary purpose shall be to research, collect, preserve, and present, as an educational resource, the books and papers, pictures and photographs, documents, artifacts, objects of art, and the like that reflect the social, cultural, and economic history of women’s education in northwest Louisiana and the DeSoto Parish area in particular.
