Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 31:209

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC

The right to secure damages and attorney’s fees under Article 207 is applicable also to a demand for dissolution of a mineral lease for failure to comply with its obligations.
