Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:371

  • Commissioner: means the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1
  • Motor vehicle: means every vehicle which is self-propelled, and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead trolley wires, but not operated upon rails, but excluding a motorized bicycle and an electric-assisted bicycle. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1

The commissioner shall have charge of the enforcement of this Part and, in this respect, shall see that every motor vehicle is equipped with the flares, flags, or warning devices provided for, and he shall have the power to make and publish regulations and requirements with reference to the types of flares, flags, or warning devices to be carried as equipment by motor vehicles.
