- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
A. The initial election of the classified employee member of the commission hereunder shall be held within ninety days after January 1, 1981, and the member then elected shall take office on May 1, 1981. Each successor thereafter shall be elected in the same manner as the initial member.
B. Vacancies occurring for any cause prior to the expiration of the term shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by special election called by the administrative head within three days after the day on which he is cognizant that a vacancy has occurred. The special election shall be held, in the manner provided by La. Rev. Stat. 33:2585.2 through La. Rev. Stat. 33:2585.7, within ninety days after the date on which the vacancy occurs.
C. Loss of status as a classified employee of the particular municipality or parish shall vacate the office of classified employee member of the commission and the vacancy shall be filled in the manner provided in Subsection B of this Section.
