- Advisory committee: means the Marriage and Family Therapy Advisory Committee. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1103
- Board: means the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1103
- Marriage and family therapy: means the professional application of psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the prevention, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in an individual and relational disorders in couples and families. A. The board, through the advisory committee, shall conduct an examination for licensure as a marriage and family therapist at least once a year at a time and place designated by the board.
B. Examinations may be written or oral as determined by the board, upon recommendation by the advisory committee. In any examination, each applicant shall be designated so that his name shall not be disclosed to the advisory committee until the examinations have been graded.
C. Examinations shall include questions in such theoretical and applied fields as the board, upon recommendation by the advisory committee, deems most suitable to test an applicant’s knowledge and competence to engage in the practice of marriage and family therapy.
