Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 47:463.12

  • Commissioner: means the secretary of the Department of Public Safety as provided for in La. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 47:451
  • Motor vehicle: means every vehicle, as herein defined, which is self propelled. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 47:451
  • Vehicle: means every device in, upon, or by which any person, property, or thing is or may be transported or drawn upon a public highway excepting devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks; provided, that for the purpose of this Chapter, a bicycle or a ridden animal shall not be deemed a vehicle, and provided further that a trailer or semitrailer shall be held and deemed each to be and constitute a separate vehicle. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 47:451

A.  The commissioner shall establish and issue special street rod license plates for motor vehicles defined as street rods under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 32:452.  These license plates shall be used in lieu of the regular motor vehicle registration license plates and shall be issued for the life of the vehicle.

B.  The fee for issuing the street rod license plate provided for in this Section shall be a one-time fee of twenty-five dollars for each plate which shall be in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration license fee.

C.  The special license plate shall bear the inscription “Street Rod”.  In addition, such plates shall have displayed thereon the vehicle number assigned to the vehicle by the commissioner.  With the exception of the special designation, the overall design and color of the plate shall be in general compliance with La. Rev. Stat. 47:463(A)(3).

D.  The commissioner shall provide by rules and regulations for the implementation of this Section.
