Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:322

  • Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.

It is unlawful for any recorder of mortgages in the state of Louisiana to record a judgment or order for spousal or child support by any court, and if such a judgment or order is recorded, it shall not have the effect of a judicial mortgage and shall be forthwith canceled by the clerk upon demand, in writing, by the party against whom it is rendered, without charge, except as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 13:4291.
