Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 10:7-603
- Bailee: means a person that by a warehouse receipt, bill of lading, or other document of title acknowledges possession of goods and contracts to deliver them. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 10:7-102
- Goods: means all things that are treated as movable for the purposes of a contract for storage or transportation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 10:7-102
- person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 1:10
If more than one person claims title to or possession of the goods, the bailee is excused from delivery until the bailee has a reasonable time to ascertain the validity of the adverse claims or to commence an action for concursus. The bailee may assert a concursus either in defending an action for nondelivery of the goods or by original action.
