Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:782 – Refund of contributions to members out of service for five years
Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:782
- Member: means any teacher included in the membership of the system as provided in Part II of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Retirement system: means the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana as defined in Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Service: means service as a teacher within the meaning of Paragraph (33) of this Section. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
Whenever a member has been out of service for five years without having applied for a refund of contributions, the retirement system shall transmit to him by certified mail, return receipt requested, to his last known address, a notification of his rights with respect to the refund of contributions. If the retirement system does not receive any response to the notification within ninety days of mailing, the contributions to which the member is entitled shall be placed to the credit of the pension accumulation fund. Upon a valid request for a refund of contributions, such refund will be made from the pension accumulation fund.
