Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:2159

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.

Each party in any cause requiring the official services of the clerk or constable shall pay the costs therefor, but shall be entitled to recover the same upon the final disposition of the cause, as is provided in La. Rev. Stat. 13:1214.  The defendant may demand security for such costs as is provided in La. Rev. Stat. 13:1215.
