Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:2586.2

  • Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.

A justice of the peace acting as an ex officio notary public as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 13:2586.1 is not required to post a bond or to pass the examination required by La. Rev. Stat. 35:191, unless he attempts to qualify as a notary public with full authority pursuant to La. Rev. Stat. 35:1 et seq.
