Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:3383

  • Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.

            A defendant shall not be required to prepay costs to file an answer to a claim for defamation of character, libel, slander, or damage to reputation referenced in La. Rev. Stat. 13:3381.
