Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:4153
- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
Should plaintiff show a legal cause for delay of such trial, only one continuance shall be granted, and that for not more than ten days.
