- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
A court which orders the transfer or the retransfer of an appeal under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 13:4441 may regulate the costs thereof, and the costs of the prior transfer if retransferred, and may prescribe the delay within which the transfer or retransfer must be effected, and such other conditions as the court may deem proper.
