Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:843.2

  • Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
  • Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.

A personal surety may furnish as security for a bond for civil court costs, including jury costs, immovable property located in the parish in which the proceeding was brought, provided the surety presents to the clerk of court an assessment certificate, a homestead exemption waiver, if applicable, and a mortgage executed in favor of the clerk of court.
