Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:915

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
  • Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.

In case of appeal the clerks of the district courts shall record the pleadings and judgments as aforesaid, together with the judgment of the district and appellate court, within six months from the filing of the judgment of the appellate court.
