Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:198

  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Nutrition program: means a program under which meals or snacks are served by any governing authority of a nutrition program provider in this state on a nonprofit basis to individuals in attendance, including any such program under which a nutrition program provider receives assistance out of the funds appropriated by the Congress of the United States. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 17:191

A.  Should the governing authority of any nutrition program provider in operating the program find that it is unable to operate satisfactorily on the rate of reimbursement according to this appropriation, then it becomes the responsibility of such governing authority to secure the additional funds needed.

B.  The state Department of Education is authorized to withdraw all amounts appropriated for the use and benefit of the nutrition programs from the state treasury in accordance with existing law and for expenditure for the purposes stated in this Subpart.
