Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:4218

  • commissioner: means the "Commissioner, Louisiana Department of Agriculture. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:4201
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • firm: means any partnership, association, or other unincorporated business organization. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:4201
  • intrastate commerce: means commerce within the state. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:4201
  • Person: means an individual or any legal or commercial entity, including a corporation, business trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, or joint venture. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:1

Inspection shall not be provided under La. Rev. Stat. 3:4201 through 3:4217 at any establishment for the slaughter of cattle, sheep, poultry, swine, goats, horses, mules or other equines, or the preparation of any carcasses or parts or products of such animals, which are not intended for use as human food, but such articles shall, prior to their offer for sale or transportation in intrastate commerce, unless naturally inedible by humans, be denatured or otherwise identified as prescribed by regulations of the commissioner to deter their use for human food.  No person, firm, or corporation shall buy, sell, transport, or offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation, in intrastate commerce, any carcasses, parts thereof, meat, meat food products or poultry products of any such animals which are not intended for use as human food unless they are denatured or otherwise identified as required by the regulations of the commissioner or are naturally inedible by humans.
