Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:361

  • Commissioner: means the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1
  • Department: means the Department of Transportation and Development. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1
  • Motor vehicle: means every vehicle which is self-propelled, and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead trolley wires, but not operated upon rails, but excluding a motorized bicycle and an electric-assisted bicycle. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1
  • safety glass: as used in this Chapter shall mean glass so treated or combined with other materials as to reduce, in comparison with ordinary sheet glass or plate glass, the likelihood of injuries to persons by objects from external sources or by glass, when the glass is cracked or broken. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:360
  • Vehicle: means every device by which persons or things may be transported upon a public highway or bridge, except devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:1

The commissioner shall approve and maintain a list of the approved types of safety glass, conforming to recognized specifications for safety glass, as defined in this Chapter, and the Department of Public Safety shall not issue a license for or relicense any motor vehicle subject to the provisions of this Chapter, unless such motor vehicle is equipped, as herein provided, with such approved type of glass.
