When the police jury has elected a vice-president pursuant to its authority under La. Rev. Stat. 33:1226, the vice-president may convene the police jury whenever the president is absent or unable to serve for any reason.  Under such circumstances, the vice-president may convene the police jury in the same manner and for the reasons that the president could himself do.  If the police jury has not elected a vice-president under La. Rev. Stat. 33:1226, the clerk of the district court of the parish may convene the police jury whenever there is a vacancy in the office of president, in the same manner and for the reasons that the president could himself do.
